ABOUT ROSA MARIA  

My name is Rosa Maria Alcalá. I’m 14 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona).
I have got two brothers. Their names are Antonio and Miguel. My mother is a house-wife. My father works for “Telefónica”.
My favourite hobbies are listening to music, playing basketball and football and playing the guitar.
I think I am adaptable, sociable, responsible, organized and active.
My favourite subjects are Maths and Catalan.
ABOUT IVÁN

My name is Ivan Alonso de la Cal. I live in Cornellà. I was born on 23rd June 1989.
My mother’s name is Mari Carmen and my father’s name is Juan. My mother is a housewife and my father is a baker. My sister’s name is Laura.
My favorite sport is cycling –it is very exciting.
I’m interested in skate boarding, karate and brake dancing. My favourite subject is Physical Education ( I love sports! ), Computer Science and English.
I don’t know what I’m going to study after ESO.
Perhaps, in the future I will work with computers.
ABOUT SÒNIA

My name is Sònia Arias Peña.
I’m 15 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí.
I ‘ve got one sister. She is younger than me.
My father works for an insurance company.
My mother is a baker.
I think I am self-confident.
My favourite hobbies are computer games.
My favourite subject is Spanish.
And in the future I´d like to study Psychology and work in a hospital.
ABOUT VÍCTOR
My name is Victor Astasio Fernández. I was born in Barcelona in 1989. I’m fourteen years old. Now I am living in Sant Joan Despí.
I have one brother and his name is Guillermo. He is seventeen. My father is Felipe and he works in the airport. My mother is Alicia, she works in El Corte Inglés.
My hobbies are playing football, going out with my friends and playing with the computer games.
My favourite subjects are Maths, Catalan and English.
In the future I want to study Biology or Economy.
ABOUT MARIONA.  
Hello, everybody! My name is Mariona Bonet. I’m 14 years old.
I’m from Barcelona, Catalunya.
I’m tall, my hair is dark and quite long. My eyes are blue.
I’m studying third of ESO in IES Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, Sant Joan Despí.
I’m a good student because I love studying.
My parents are Vicenç and Victoria. My father is an estate consultant and my mother is an aesthetician. I have got one sister, her name is Aïda. She is studying Social Education at the UAB. Now she doesn’t live at home because she lives with other girls in Barcelona city.
In the future, I want be a doctor, a pediatrician doctor, because I love children and medicine. I’d like to specialize in leukemia because I knew about this unit because one of my friends. He died because he had leukemia.
I’m very excited about this project because I’ve been studying English for eight years and I want to put my English into practise.
ABOUT RIBOCHO
 
I’m Ribocho Boriko Dos Reis.
I’m fourteen years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí with my mother and my sisters. My mother’s name is Ana and my sisters’ names are Rioco and Rijole.
My mother is a nurse and my father works at a state agent.
My favorite subjects are English P. Education and Music.
My favorite hobbies are playing basketball and going out with my friends.
I’m interested in translating other languages into Spanish and playing basketball.
In a future I’d like to become a professional sportswoman or work as a translator.
ABOUT NOEL
 

My name is Noel Cabello Heredia. I´m 15 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí. My favourite hobby is listening to music. I´m interested in robotics .
I´ve got one brother, his name is Marcel, my father works for a building company and my mother works in a fashion boutique.
I think I am a friendly, happy and crazy boy.
My favourite subject is History.
In the future I´d like to study in the UAB. I´d like to work as a robotics engineer.
ABOUT DANI
  Hello! My name is Daniel Lamin Dumbuya Galindo. I live in Sant Joan Despí. I was born on 23rd April 1989. I’m 14 years old.
I haven’t got any brothers or sisters. My family is fantastic. My mother’s name is MªDolors and my grandparents are Fernando and Rosa. I feel safe in my family.
I like sports because sport is healthy. I’m a funny boy. I don’t like exams because they are difficult but I must do them.
I’m interested in computers because they are interesting. My favorite subject is Plastic Arts. In the future, I’d like to work as a computer programmer. I think I need four years to complete these studies.

About my personality: I think, when I meet people, in the beginning I’m shy. People say I am also a bit crazy.
My favorite sport is hockey, I play with a team. And my favorite hobbies are listening to music and playing with computer games. I’m interested in drawing, computers and music.
I’ve got one brother, his name’s Enric. My parents work for an insurance agency.
My favorite subjects are Design, P.E and English and in the future I’d like to study to become a genetics engineer.

I’m fifteen years old , I live in Les Planes, a neighbourhood in Sant Joan Despí.
My favorite hobby is dancing. I don’t like sports at all.
I have got one sister, and two brothers.
My mother is a nurse for elderly people. My father is an English teacher.
I think I’m a good student. I’m good at English, History and Maths, but my favorite subject is English. And in the future I’m going to work as a business woman. I’m interested in doing business.

My name is Omar.
I’m 14 years old, and I live in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona).
My favourite hobbies are painting and playing with computer games. I am very crazy.
I’ve got one brother and one sister. My father is a baker, and my mother is a cloth pattern-designer.
I’m interested in Biology.
In the future I’d like to work as a surgeon, so I must study medicine at the university. I think it lasts 6 years. I want to study at the UB.

  Hello my name is Ferran Martín.
I am 14 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí. I was born on 1st July 1989.
My mother’s name is Candelaria and my father’s name is Fernando José. They are fantastic. My sister’s name is Laura. She is very good at English.
I think I am shy, but I’ve got many good friends.
I’m good at sports. My favourite hobbies are football and basketball. My favourite subject is Physical Education. I also like computers. In the future I’d like to work with computers.
 
ABOUT MAYTE
 

I’m Mayte Reategui. I’m 15 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí .
I’ve got three brothers, but I am the youngest in my family. My father is a bus-driver and my mother is a housewife.
I think I am friendly, sociable, but I am quite crazy, too.
My favorite hobbies are drawing, painting and listening to music.
I’m interested in tourism, too.
And in future,… I don’t know what I am going to do. Maybe something about tourism.

My name is Laura Suárez. I’m 14 years old and I live in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), but I was born in Ourense (Galicia).
I have got one brother, his name is David. My mother (Pilar) is a waitress and my father (Jose Luis) works for “San Miguel”.
My favorite hobbies/sports are singing, football and listening to music. I am also interested in Biology and languages.
I think I’m a hardworking and constant girl.
My favorite subjects are Catalan, English and Science. In the future I’d like to study in the UAB and I’d like to become a doctor.

I’m 14 years old and I live in Molins de Rei.
My favourite hobbies are swimming and singing. I think I can sing very well.
I ‘ve got one older brother. He wants to be a car designer. My father is a nurse. My mother is a nurse, too.
I think I am shy, my friends say that I am a shy girl.
My favourite subject is Music. I like helping people.
And in the future I would like to study medicine and work in a hospital.
 
ABOUT CARLA
  My name is Carla, I'm 16, I live in Sant Joan Despí. I have got one sister, her name in Susana. My parents’ names are Pura and Vicente. My father is a janitor and my mother is a teacher. I'm
pessimistic. My favourite subject is Maths. I'm very good at Catalan. In my
free time I like is listening music. My favourite music group is SKA-P. In the future I don't know what to study. I want to be a baker.
TEACHERS’ COMMENTS
We are English teachers in IES Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia in Sant Joan Despí. We are happy to teach English and educate secondary students. In our opinion, the English language is a way to communicate and present the students a piece of the world around us. For us, it is always a challenge to go into the class and have new experiences with our students. You never know what you can learn from them!!! But the truth is that it is a challenge.
Through this project our students have succeed in discovering how university life works and in finding out that it is possible for them to take university studies. They know by now that studying abroad is a way to grow personally and it is not out of their possibilities. They have also learnt that if you really want something, you have to fight for it. So that’s why they have worked so hard on this project: we just hope they can go to Cambridge thanks to the grant, and this way see their effort has come to the expected aim.
We specially thank the University teachers and staff that have made part of this work possible (Miquel Clar, Belén Garí, Carme Colominas, Meritxell Cama and Patrick Zabalbeascoa), the Erasmus students at the UAB, Marina Feliu for her support in creating the web, Enrique Fernández for his trust in our project, the members of our Department of Foreign Languages, Eli Sellés –the class tutor-, the teachers who have accompanied us to make the interviews in the Faculties -Josep Maria Masanas and Teresa Castellà-, Enrique Muñoz for helping our students with computer work (that strange world), and our families for their patience.
